Keukenhof

On 21 April 2023, I took a ride out to this mystical place.  Always the morning person, I decided to make the drive an early one hoping to be one of the few to embark in the wonders of this garden in the early morning.  Walking in the Keukenhof garden was truly an enchanting experience for me.  As I entered the garden, I was immediately greeted by a burst of vibrant colors and intoxicating scents, both of fresh flowers and also the sent of wet soil as this particular morning the sun was replaced by the ever present Dutch liquid sunshine. Before I began my stroll, I decided to get a cup of espresso, I inserted my earbuds, selected my jazz playlist and began my stroll.

As I strolled along the winding pathways, I was quickly surrounded by a sea of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and many other varieties of flowers. The meticulously manicured flower beds are arranged in intricate patterns, creating a visual feast for the eyes.

The garden is divided into different sections, each showcasing a different type of flower or theme. From the romantic rose garden to the tranquil Japanese garden, there is something for everyone to enjoy. You can also explore the various pavilions, which house different types of flowers and offer a respite from the sun or the rain.

One of the highlights of walking in the Keukenhof garden is the opportunity to see rare and exotic flowers that are not commonly found elsewhere. The garden is known for its extensive collection of tulips, with over 800 different varieties on display. From classic red and yellow tulips to unique striped and fringed varieties, you will be amazed by the sheer diversity of colors and shapes.

As I continued my walk, I came across charming windmills, picturesque ponds, and quaint bridges, adding to the overall charm of the garden. There are also several sculptures and art installations scattered throughout, adding an artistic touch to the natural beauty.

Whether you are a flower enthusiast or simply appreciate the beauty of nature, walking in the Keukenhof garden is a truly magical experience. The combination of stunning flowers, peaceful surroundings, and the fresh scent of blossoms in the air creates a sensory overload that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and inspired, well at least it did for me.
